SIM card without an ID card in Slovakia
I am starting a service business and need a number for customers and suppliers. I do not want my private number to remain in business listings and other people’s contacts. Can an anonymous SIM help, and what does the requirement for an identity document mean?

Keep work contacts apart from personal life
A separate SIM can have a legitimate purpose for a sole trader, a small company or someone building a business alongside employment. It allows one contact for customers and another for family and personal matters.
When someone asks for a “SIM card without an ID card”, we therefore start with the purpose. Keeping a personal number away from business contacts is a different request from avoiding identification by the service provider.
Legitimate business uses
- Early contracts and business listings. A public contact can appear in service, rental or recruitment advertisements without publishing the number used in private life.
- Supplier communication. Orders and service calls can stay on a number intended for business.
- A small team or premises. An agreed work phone can hold the customer contact instead of relying on one employee's personal mobile.
This separation can help organise contacts and define when you handle work calls. Another SIM does not automatically create a corporate identity or guarantee that its user remains unidentified.
Identity documents and privacy from customers
Keeping a number out of public circulation does not remove the operator's conditions. O2 Slovakia states that it verifies customer identity when activating prepaid services. Describing a card as anonymous is therefore not a general promise of service without identification.
For business use, establish who is authorised to access the number, who can manage it and how a lost or replacement card is handled.
Keep control of the number
If a number will appear on your website, business cards or invoices over the long term, check service continuity and customer-support options beforehand. Changing it after your business is established can disrupt customer contact.
The Quick help box lets you send a non-binding enquiry about your preferred SIM type. In the follow-up conversation, explain whether you need a public business contact, a customer line or a number for a particular team.
Ask a private investigator
